Wild Winter

We got snow Tuesday night into Wednesday, followed by sleet and then more snow. Couldn't make it into the office Wednesday so worked from home. Thursday, I also worked from home. I usually work from home on Fridays so it will be three days at home. School was cancelled Wed & Thurs. as well. Friday and Monday are holidays, so the kids are enjoying a 6-day weekend.

Spent way too much time shoveling, but the kids are really enjoying it. The neighborhood boys have been in and out, spending many hours outside sledding down the hills in our neighborhood. They don't mind the bitter cold or the blowing snow. They are having the time of their lives.

I leave Saturday to go up to New York. I'm going to visit my aunt, uncle and cousin on Long Island for a few hours. Then I'll leave my car at their house and take the train into the city. An old friend of mine is in town for work so I'll spend a few days getting reacquainted. Monday is Rachel's event at Barnes & Noble. My cousin works there so I'll see her there. Tuesday, she and I are going to the Attic show at Joe's Pub. We'll meet up with ColleenM and have dinner before the show. I'll head home sometime on Wednesday.

Sorry to say that three, and hopefully all the mice, have met their end. Gave up on the Havahart trap and used the old-fashioned spring loaded traps. My son was not happy but he accepted it.

Hope everyone is surviving the cold and staying warm.

Hi Cathy!
Snow days! Oh how I loved those snow days...but bummer when we had to make them up in June!

Hope you have a wonderful time at Joe's. Say hi to Colleen - she's the coolest.
That's great that you get to see Rachel and Michelle Riggio.
Her dad - Steve Riggio (CEO of B&N) sent me Rachel's cd of The Ring - Michelle wrote the lyrics. (He read on Rachel's blog that I work w/special needs kids and that I was blown away by loved the song).
I would love to hear the new one they wrote together.

KUDOS my dear for your post on Cheney and the "gay problem."
Yeah, people loving eachother - they are a real threat/menace to society!
But kill thousands upon thousands of innocent people in Iraq...yeah that's ok.
I think Bush/Cheney need to have the bumpersticker: "Who would Jesus bomb?" permanently plastered across their foreheads!

Oh I am in a rare mood!
Don't get me stahted as my friends in Boston would say!

Take care and be well,
Suexx

Enjoy the trip to cold NYC! I'm sure you'll find plenty of warmth though when you meet you cousin, hang out at B&N and Joe's - have fun!

We have boisterous tom who swaggers around as arrogant as you like. Several weeks back there was a mouse in the house. Did he do anything aboout it? did he hell. Just watched me as I cornered it (in the washing machine of all places), picked it up and let it go. Wouldn't want to be doing it all the time though.

I have the oddest cat.

best,
p.

Ahvarahn - My mice (4 of them now to date) are/were living around the washing machine and dryer. I'm thinking they are getting into the house by the dryer vent. I haven't seen any evidence that they've gotten into the pantry on the second floor, but my daughter swears she heard little claws across the kitchen floor. My house is a split level with the kitchen on basically the second floor. The kitchen and dining room are like a loft area that overlooks the living room.

Sue - the Riggio's are great people. I've met Steve and Michelle several times now at the different Attic shows. Yes, I don't understand the Christianity that Bush and Cheney practice. It's much different than the way I understand Christ's teachings.

Wish you were both going to be at Joe's.
